Palm Springs Modernism Week - Pre-Fab Showcase & Modern Living Expo

As a product designer for Steel Life, I had the opportunity to travel down to California for Palm Springs Modernism Week.  This will be the second year I have attended and each year is better than the one before.

This year's Pre-Fab Showcase and Modern Living Expo was much larger than last year's.  Steel Life was featured in the Just Modern booth, alongside many other fun and unique products.  This shop, located in the Uptown Design District of Palm Springs carries American-made brands such as:

Modfire                                                                                   Bkb ceramics
Atomic Living Design                                                            Bauer Pottery
Atomic Skyway                                                                      Eastvold
Fredrick Arndt Artwork                                                         Marcus Papay Designs, and many more!

Bend Seating, Gainey Ceramic bird feeders, bkb ceramics bubble planters, and Bauer pottery.
Steel Life's Jack planters shown in Sky blue and Citrus (orange).

While I was there, I had the pleasure of meeting many other exhibitors and talented makers.

Patio Heaven is an outdoor furniture warehouse in Gardena, California.  They had a beautiful display of furniture and outdoor living accessories.  And look, it even looks great with Steel Life's Matchstick planter!

WFOUR Design is a small design-build company based in Eugene, Oregon.  Both manufacturing in Oregon, I thought it would be fun to get a picture with both our products.

Margaret Joplin of Design Collaboration is producing these beautiful glass light fixtures and hanging glass.  I had the opportunity to visit her studio in Tucson, Arizona last winter to learn about the process she goes through to create her pieces.

Herman Miller (above, right) featured their Spun Chair in red.  This is a perfect chair for your office if you never want to get anything done.  It's just so fun to roll around in.  It was a big hit!

Urbio (below) had a fun display of their Happy Family vertical gardens.  I had the chance to get to know co-owner, Beau Oyler, Beau's brother and Blair Stewart, VP of Business Operations.  These are a great group of guys and I look forward to connecting with them again in the future.

R+U is based in the West Hills in California.  This family run company recycles classroom trailer units and transforms them into beautiful, modern modular homes.  Here at the Prefab Showcase and
Expo Tent, R+U was showing off their new Trailer Bar.

Chase of R+U was kind enough to let me do an impromptu photo shoot at the Trailer Bar during a rare lull of visitors.

Tomorrow is the last day of Palm Springs Modernism Week, so if you are nearby, consider stopping in.  Catch the Vintage Trailer Show and The Pan Am Experience if you can ~two events I had to miss this time around.

Next up, my experience on the Premiere Double Decker Bus Tour!
