Basil Grapefruit Martini

Grapefruit Basil Martini (Pitcher Recipe)
  • 6 large grapefruit (you should be able to squeeze out ½ cup juice from each grapefruit) leaving you with a total of 3 cups.
  • 3 cups basil simple syrup (see how to make infused syrup here)
  • 750 ml favorite gin
  • Sparkling water or Club Soda
  • Ice

Combine equal parts fresh squeezed grapefruit juice, basil syrup and gin together and pour over ice.  Top off with a little sparkling water or club soda. It's just that simple!  

I took this drink on a camping trip for the 4th of July weekend with friends.  It was a great, lower calorie cocktail that was truly refreshing on a hot summer day.  Since I didn't want to bring my nice pitcher on a camping trip, I kept all ingredients separate in a cooler.  Come cocktail hour, it took little effort to create this garden fresh cocktail for a quick cool down.
